Before Sobriety, Insanity

Before sobriety there was insanity

Concealed by the solace of the bottle, glistening

Willingly devouring its profanity

Each night I’d return, keenly listening

It’s whispers lulling me into a blackout haze

Where at last I’d feel at ease

In its comforting embrace

How could I know it was a mere deceitful tease

Early morning’s illuminating array

Brings a revelation of the truth

Dressed in stark isolation of the day

With the discernment of a sleuth

What I thought was an endearing friend

Had all along been guiding me into an early grave

What’s worse is that I lent a helping hand

In digging the hollowed-out concave

Thinking it was my cozy bed

Embracing me tenderly each night

How could I have been so mislead

into believing such a farcical delight

Hey you! Glad you're here. 🤍

I used to think feeling everything so intensely was a flaw. Now I know it’s just the cost of living awake. I choose sober clarity over numbness and build a world rooted in real connection, warmth, and playfulness. Life is too short to live on the surface.
